Media Information – issued 2nd November 2008 STOP! support doubled since MEGAshed rejected STOP! has received as much financial and expert support for its campaign in September and October as it has over the previous 12 months, thanks to the rejection of the MEGAshed on 1st September on sound planning grounds, and the sudden arrival on the scene of a campaign supporting Goodman and Tesco in their application. Hundreds of individuals from Andover and district have now provided financial support. “Who assumed that the silent majority were in favour of the MEGAshed?” asks Rhonda Smith, Chair of the STOP! Alliance. “The winning of the battle on 1st September and rejection of the MEGAshed has encouraged those who thought it was a ‘done deal’ to declare their support for STOP! There is now clear confidence that the war against the Airfield plan proposed by big corporations Goodman and Tesco, even when supported by the opinion of TVBC Planning Department, will be won.
