Jobs - The Real Story From information received from many sources STOP! is not convinced that the suggested £24,000 salary package on offer from TESCO is a true figure and should be strongly questioned. In addition the actual number of local people who might get a job we expect to be significantly lower due to the low levels of unemployment in the area currently less than 1%. One final point on the jobs –actually its not jobs that are on offer. It’s a guarantee of an interview–a rather different promise. If a local applicant is up against a person having to move from one of the TESCO Distribution Centres destined to close as a result of this MEGAshed, no prizes in guessing who will get the job! An important point to remember is that JOBS are not a ‘material planning consideration’ and therefore must NOT be taken into account by TVBC when considering this planning application. The Andover Advertiser announced on Friday 13th June that Tesco will be offering jobs to Andover residents on the most unusual basis that, if they turn up for an interview, they will be considered for the warehouse jobs and very critically paid significantly more than the going rate in Andover, according to Steve Dancey and Joe Sicuna of the AA. |
